I'm going to go up this year myself.

I've taken a team there on several occasions - it is a wild, crazy and insanely large event.  I can help with hotel suggestions, etc. if any of you guys decide you are going.

Yeah it is. I know if you pre register it's like $60 but if you register after June 23rd it $80. I think the last I heard was that a case of paint was running about $100. I really want to do it though.

Depending on the date I'm game.  I have had many others interested before, but we never went.
Does anyone have a camper?

What side would we want to play?
Germans or American?  I prefer not to run away  Embarrassed (French)

Stoltz you have been there before, are you game?

I looked it up it is July 17th and 18th and I'm OFF so I will go if we get a group together.

If anyone is interested in going and is not part of the WPPMERCS contact me at:

I am Definitely planning on going up to it. I've already started saving for it. I would probably want to go on the American's side. A camper would be sweet but if not, the back of our trucks will work for me. Hahahaha. Tongue

Hey,

I will absolutely go Dave - you can count me in.  I don't care what I have to do to put the money together this year, I'm going Smiley

Some observations from the past trips (have to get to work but I will post more).
  • Americans tend to be more fun than Germans, for several reasons.  Ok - you have NEVER experienced anything like the beach assault, I guarantee it.  Charging a tree line with 1000 players in it each firing 10+BPS is a kind of insanity that you have to experience to believe.  And charging that tree line, manning up in the face of that madness feels so good it'll last you all year.  Also - the Germans tend to have more established teams so they are a bit more click-ish, so it's easier to get involved with the allied side.
  • Beds and showers rock.  Camping is fun, no doubt.  And it is cheaper.  But I can't say enough about getting a local hotel (even cramming four to a room to save).  Mostly it's about having a bed and you'll appreciate it when you are playing two 8+ hour days back to back.  Plus having a shower before the start of day 2 is as close as you will come to heaven on earth. It's a bit more expensive, but it is worth it.  I'll be doing it regardless and if we don't do it as a group, people can go in with me - no problem.  To anyone interested, I can recommend two hotels in the area, both with their pluses and minuses.
  • Go as a group.  If stocky can manage the administration of it, going as a group is the way to go.  Group benefits start at 10 and are pretty nice.   Generally you can at least get one registration for free and I've always either used that myself or given it to someone who was having trouble getting the money together to go

Well I have to head to work now - I'll post more recommendations on the trip later and some general observations I have from being there before.

What I will say is if you are thinking about it, do it.  Go.  Find a way to make it happen.  You have never played a game like this before - it is amazing.

Thanks for all the info Stoltz.  Feel free to post any more details that you can think of.
If we can get enough people in for group rates I'll just turn the savings into ammo to be fair to all or we can raffle it off.  But we need to get the numbers up first.
Sounds like we have a good start with three.

I'll put together and email to send to everyone to let everybody know whats up.

I have Team sew on patches on order, and should be here some time in March.  So if you are wearing BDU's you can REPRESENT!  I haven't heard from Butler Patches on when they will be shipping them though.

I've been checking out helmet cams, but not sure what I want yet.  I hope to have one for the Fireteam Scenario to test out.  It would be cool for the ION and EMR's Castle Siege!

I might be bringing 1 or 2 people. I think my cousin (Mini) is going to come up with me. One of my wrestling teammates might be able to make it too. Not 100% sure yet though.

Here's question, mainly for Stoltz. I really don't have the money to put into a hotel room so do you know if Skirmish lets you camp any where like in the back of your truck? Hahaha. Thanks.

YES! you can camp.
I'm cool with camping over night and taking a bird bath.
Stinkiness makes you that much cooler  Grin
But if anyone has a camper that would be awesome!
Keep your eyes and ears open, maybe we could find one.
